A little bit about Shalynne Barr…

How long have you been doing what you do, and how did you become a Lifestyle Transformation and Weight Loss Coach?

To answer this question, it's probably best that I share with you a defining moment, and a resulting "compelling story," that brought me to where I am today – coaching people like you on exactly what to do to shift their mindset and lifestyle that would lead to weight loss. That defining moment in my life happened in 2015.

My journey to good health probably sounds very familiar to yours. I am a former potato chip addict that was sabotaging my own health and wondering why I couldn't lose weight permanently. I too frequently blamed my "shapely" hips, thighs to "it just runs in my family." Deep down inside I knew there had to be a better way. I wanted to live life in a consistent, healthy manner but I was trapped in a fierce battle with myself.

I was trapped with feelings of hopelessness and despair. I felt as if I was always going to be overweight and my eating habits would be out of control. Plus, on top of it all, I was an excellent baker. My specialties were peanut butter cookies, key lime pie, and my Mom's homemade caramel corn. I ate everything I baked, and often. I was single-handedly sabotaging my health, but I continued on anyway.

I also found false hope in potato chips. As I mentioned, I was addicted to potato chips. I ate potato chips when I was happy, sad, mad, on good days, on bad days. When I was bored. When I was driving. While I watched TV. Even for breakfast. I could not control myself. I knew deep down inside that this pull to eat had become stronger than me, but I had no willpower to stop, so I kept surrendering. To be honest, I was baffled by my weakness. I began to ask myself questions: Am I really this weak? Am I running from something in my life? Am I using food as a crutch? What was I not addressing in my life? Did I have some deeper issues that I was unwilling to face? I discovered that I was in a dark place. I was still battling low self-esteem issues and abandonment that stemmed from my childhood. I realized that I was stressed, full of anxiety and felt pressure to juggle too many balls in my life.

Shortly after having these deep, soul-searching thoughts, it was the Spring of 2015, and it was time for my annual physical. While I knew my knees would ache and my lower back would kink up and sometimes, I would feel dizzy, I had no idea it was because of the things that my doctor reported to me in the findings of my health report when my blood work came back.

For the first time in my life, I was faced with the reality that I was in poor health. My doctor told me I needed to and HAD to make some changes because things were spiraling out of control. My blood work showed I had an extremely elevated cholesterol level. I was anemic, and my white blood cell count was out of control. I was 32lbs overweight which was more than my 5'0 frame was capable of withstanding. Reading that report was one of the most damning moments in my life.  I sat down on my bed and began crying uncontrollably. I felt so ashamed of myself. The report on that paper told the story of every emotional, compulsive and addictive food choice that I put in my mouth. My body was speaking back to me, and it was time for me to listen. I even silently prayed and ask God to forgive me because I knew that I had not honored the gift that he had given me. My body was a precious gift from Him that I had abused. I also asked for wisdom on how to start using better lifestyle management tools that would help me element stress, anxiety and help me love myself for who I was.

That day was the day that I decided that enough was enough. I declared that I would reclaim my health. I knew it would take some work and focus, but I was ready to fight for myself. I knew that my husband and our two sons were depending upon me as well. I wanted to be healthy and have more energy instead of being tired and having to sit down when we were on vacation or having to ask someone to go to the basement to get something that I forgot down there because I would get so winded from walking up and down two flights of stairs. I screamed out to myself, "NO!!!" I had finally decided that the current pillars in my life had to be demolished and it was time to build new foundations. So, I went after it.

The first change that I made was to address what I was eating and why I was eating. This helped me to be more in tune with my emotions and break the unhealthy ties. I also stopped buying potato chips and repeatedly told myself that it was a waste of my hard-earned money. I stop baking desserts as frequently as I did and exchanged those recipes for cleaner recipes. Next, I set out to move more so I began exercising for 20-minutes, 3 days a week. Once I felt I could withstand more then I moved to 30 minutes 4 days a week and then began to incorporate weights. Lastly, I added in more water because I was drinking next to none originally. All of these changes began to add up and I found that the weight literally started falling off. My energy level went through the roof and my emotions stabilized.                                                                      

These were the beginning changes that helped me clean up my past and I started teaching women how they can do the same: I watched their association with food shift and the weight starting falling off too! I have since made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my professional life to helping other women break free from self-sabotaging eating patterns and exercise routines and unlock their dynamic ability to create a lifestyle shift that will lead to losing weight and keeping it off.                                                                     

Since then, I've worked with many private clients, and have been interviewed on TV and radio shows, and I have created Five Pillars of Freedom-90 Day Weight Loss System™, a series of five important components that every woman needs to establish in order to lose weight and reclaim her health.

Although we will occasionally touch upon your mind, will, and emotions, you have me as a health, nutrition and fitness expert. I work on the inner and outer principles for success and look at your lifestyle from an organic and spiritual perspective. What that means to you is that you get a truth-meets-reality lifestyle transformation and weight loss coach. I'm also very spiritual, and I don't pretend to hide it either. Because I'm not delicate, you'll always get a straight to the point quick and honest response from me.                                                                      

I’m concerned with how to get your lifestyle shifted to a balanced level so you can start losing weight. You may not always like what I have to tell you – but you can be sure I will always tell you the truth. I will tell you the truth about what’s standing in the way and how to get rid of it FAST so you can start getting results (and I throw in a healthy dose of laughter and motivation, which always helps!).   

What type of personality do you work best with and what is expected of me?

The Five Pillars of Freedom-90 Day Weight Loss System workshops, products and programs were created for people who are absolutely excited and dead serious about busting out of their confining walls, eager to tap into their inner beauty and look great naked – it means not running around all day long, beating yourself up anymore saying: "Shouldn't I have lost this weight by now?" They were created for you to put systems in place within a few months (sometimes weeks!), which will eventually lead you to REV Up ™ your life with Radiance, Energy and Vitality.                                                                  

Being a "when I'm ready to change, I will make it happen" person myself, I'm known to work best with other "when I'm ready to change, I will make it happen" women who are committed to their success no matter what and who are super-ready to get going and just want to know exactly what steps to take to make lifestyle changes that will lead to weight loss. My clients often tell me – "just tell me what to do, and I'll do it!" Consider what you'll do with me to be a well-designed course on everything you need to know to ultimately lose weight. You will be expected to take serious and consistent action. No excuses anymore, just a very different way of thinking and full support while you achieve this incredibly exciting goal: lifestyle management and weight loss.

For what type of women are your programs NOT going to work?

Please know I'm very selective in who I work with, and I cherry-pick my clients, choosing to (gently) turn away people who aren't suited for my programs and won't get the results for which they would have signed up for. (It wouldn't be fair to them.) The Five Pillars of Freedom-90 Day Weight Loss SystemÔ programs are NOT for those who won't work with me (without exception) and are not coachable. The whiner or the chronic skeptic, as well as individuals who constantly make excuses for not getting their assignments done or challenging every aspect of the program, are not a good fit. If you are one of these people, I gently and respectfully ask that you not call and I hope you understand why. We'll probably just not work well together, and I wouldn't want you to waste your time or money. Is that fair?

  2. Faith: What is your belief system? Draw upon your faith to sustain and support your journey to weight loss. Replace your fears with faith in the journey as you walk towards your ultimate goals.

  3. Focus: Do you have double vision? Are you comparing your journey to the next person's journey? Peer pressure is real even on the adult level. Unlock the ability to be laser-focused on you and rid yourself from distractions. Make solid associations to you only and release the "Comparison Monster" from your life.

How quickly can I expect results?

That depends on how quickly you can make those inner shifts. Some clients are ready to go and hit the ground running (pun intended!) in a very short time frame, sometimes even a few weeks while others have a bit more work to do first. It also depends on how you progress through the Deconstruction Phases of the program.
